METEORA
METEORA (Greek: Μετέωρα, pronounced [mɛˈtɛoɾɐ], lit. "middle of the sky", "suspended in the air", "in the heavens above", "within a state of transition")
Inspired by a group of Byzantine monasteries in central Greece that lie on top of ancient rock formations as if suspended between sky and earth, 'Meteora' looks at states of transition and suspension as stimuli for movement. Two performers walk, run, pause, dance while finding themselves caught in between moments and spaces. The piece weaves together movement, lighting and music in an attempt to create moving images from ideas of stillness.

'...Meteora starts heavily, arms raised in mirror image seemingly supporting the sky. Initially confounded by the movements of these mythical warriors, I was drawn in as the choreography grew stronger along with the use of light. The two move like twins from the Byzantium era. Looking upwards to their load, motifs of support are prevalent with the pair supine, supportive of each other and realistically suspended between spotlight and dark.'
